Using Wizard to restrict time of day

Hi - I would like to create a condition in the strategy wizard that would only allow entries to occur during certain times of the day. I'm trying to develop a strategy for the EURJPY that would only trigger during the JPY or EUR active hours. This could be between the hours of 17:00 to 5:00, or could be limited to a certain pairs open hours. Basically, I'm trying to avoid trades triggering during off market hours. Any ideas?

Hi. I actually use this in my strategies. If you are using the wizard, look up "condition builder" in the help section and the last entry tells you how to compare time stamps. If you are coding manually, you use the ToTime() function, which you can also lookup.

      Hello gthufford & taraks,

Thank you both for your posts and welcome to the NinjaTrader Support Forum!

The information that taraks mentions can be found at the following link: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/h...on_builder.htm

Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

Condition for time being between two times that span two days

        Thank you both very much.

Is there a condition (using the wizard) that would allow the trades to only occur from 5:00PM at night to 7:00 AM the next day (basically, overnight while the JPY is active)? If I set the condition to only occur >= 5:00 PM, I think that would prevent any trades from triggering at 1:00 AM the following morning. I want the trade to trigger anytime between 17:00 to 7:00.

Thank you very much for your help.

          Hello gthufford,

          Thank you for your response.

To complete this we need to check between 5 PM to 11:59 PM and 12 AM to 7 AM. However, this is not possible in the Strategy Wizard as there is no "OR" function in the Strategy Wizard.

I have detailed this item in the following video: http://screencast.com/t/TmX76h4mP8

Please let me know if you have any questions.
