    Ninjatrader on MacBook Pro

    Hi All,

I have been testing out various different ways to run Windows on my Mac so I can use Ninjatrader.

I tested the performance of my machine with the following setups using NovaBenchmark in all 3 cases
    • Windows 7 Ultimate installed via BootCamp
    • Windows 8 installed via Parallels running side by side with OSX 10.8.3
    • OSX 10.8.3 running as installed without Parallels running

Here are the results from the benchmarks

Based on this I will be running NinjaTrader 7 on Windows 7 Ultimate using BootCamp.

Hope that helps the next person wondering what is the optimal way to run NinjaTrader on Windows.

    Regards
    Damo

Hi, not sure if you have this product to try, or if anybody has tried it...but I am exploring using VMWare's Fusion product to run NT in.

    Has anybody tried it?

      Hi DaFish,

It is known to work in NT7, provided these steps are taken while configuring the VM:

      1. Start VMWare and select your virtual machine
      2. Press the "Settings" button on the bottom
      3. Under "System Settings", select "Sharing"
      4. Uncheck "Documents" from the "Mirrored Folders" list
      5. Close the "Settings" window and start the virtual machine

Testing has not been done on NT8 with VMWare, so your milage may vary. Please ensure to share your experiences running NT8 on VMWare Fusion on the beta section of the forum should you decide to give VMWare Fusion a try.

damo666, how much RAM did you allocate to Windows 8 in your benchmark test? Thanks!
