i haven't been able to find information about how to create an atm strategy that adds contracts after the initial entry. will you please point me to where that information is located?

Thanks for your note.

It is not possible for an ATM strategy to place more orders automatically after the initial order has been made. Something like this would have to be done in a NinjaScript strategy.

With ATM strategies you can scale in manually (meaning add contracts to the order, profit target, and stop loss) by selecting the *Active ATM Strategy - <strategy name> and placing another order in the same direction (meaning if the first order was a buy, make another buy order).

You can scale out by keeping the *Active ATM Strategy - <strategy name> selected and placing an order in the opposite direction.

There are a few Sample Automated Strategies which come pre-configured in NinjaTrader that you can use as a starting point. These are found under Tools--> Edit NinjaScript--> Strategy. You will see locked strategies where you can see the details of the code, but you will not be able to edit (you can though always create copies you can later edit via right click > Save as)

We also have some Reference samples online as well as ‘Tips and Tricks’ for both indicators and strategies:
