I cannot find the instrument N225M

    Hello,

    I have three questions:

    1. I cannot find the instrument N225M which is the nikkei 225 mini futures on Osaka Securities Exchange in ninjatrader.

    2. When I choose tick charts, no past data are plotted. I can only see bars forming after I have opened the tick chart.

    3. The charts stop during lunch break and when regular trading hours end. How do I make the charts show the trading outside regular hours? I am using IB data, I can see the trading on my IB charts.

    Thanks for answering my questions!

    Hello beierde888,

Thank you for your forum post.

1.) The Nikkei 225 Futures can be accessed within NinjaTrader by using the symbol N225 followed by the expiry date.

Example for the most current contract month: N225 06-13

2.) Unfortunately Interactive Brokers does not support historical tick data.

See the Help Guide article entitled "Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider":

3.) You will need to change the session template to either an ETH (Electronic Trading Hours) or Default 24/7 session:
    • Right mouse click on the chart background > Data Series...
    • Select the instrument in the bottom left hand corner > Edit the Parameters on the right hand side.
    • Under the Data section > Modify the Session Template to either an ETH or Default 24/7 session template
    • Click OK when finished.

      Thank you RyanL!

      I've got questions 2 and 3 now.

But N225 is the large contract, N225M is the mini contract which is only one tenth the size.

I can only find the mini contracts on the Singapore Stock Exchange in the instrument list, but cannot find the ones traded on the Osaka Securities Exchange.

        Hello beierde888,

Thank you for the follow up.

If you are currently receiving data for N225M within Interactive Brokers TWS then you may need to create this instrument within NinjaTrader:

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.
        • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
        • Press the "New" button
        • *Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
        • Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider
        • Press the "OK" button

The instrument is now added to the master instrument list. Please follow the instructions below if you want to add this instrument to an instrument list.
        • Select the instrument list you wish to add the instrument to via the "Instrument lists" drop down list in the upper left hand corner
        • Select the exchange (Default recommend for equities) as this will route orders to your broker smart routing system
        • Select the appropriate expiration date if this is a futures instrument
        • Press the "<" button to add the instrument to the list

You are now complete and can press the "OK" button.
