    Snap Mode Default

    Any way to reset the snap mode default to 'disabled'? Currently, whenever a chart is closed then reopened, it defaults to 'bar and price'.
    TIA

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

    After setting the Snap Mode to Disabled please right mouse click within your chart please right mouse click-->Templates-->Save As Default.

    Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      Thank you for your suggestion, which I tried and which was not successful. When I exited the program I saved the workspace which contained the 'modified' template - disabled as the default for the collection of templates in the workspace. Upon re-opening the workspace, once again 'bar and price' was the default for snap mode.

        I have tested this and was unable to replicate using the steps you have provided. Can you please tell me what version of NinjaTrader you have installed which can be found under Help-->About.

            Please use the following steps to delete and save your Default settings:
            • Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->templates-->Chart folder
            • Delete the file "Default"
            • Set Snap Mode to Disabled
            • Right click-->Templates-->Save As Default
            • Save Workspace
            • Restart NinjaTrader

            Let me know if the Snap Mode is still showing as Disabled within your chart.

              Hi,
              No go. After following your protocol, again the default is 'bar and price'. Perhaps there is another place where there is a 'default' file which repopulates the vacancy created by the initial deletion:

              Documents-->NinjaTrader 7-->templates-->Chart folder
              Delete the file "Default"

                I will check with development and will follow up with you as soon as I gather additional information.

                Thank you for your patience.

                    Can you please open a new chart with no template or indicators applied and let me know if you can then save the Snap Mode being used.

                      I deleted the current "Default' template, opened a chart (with no indicators), picked 'disabled' as the snap mode choice, saved this chart as the default template, saved the workspace (I did not create a new workspace), exited NT and then rebooted. When I go to the 'new' chart and check the snap mode it has stayed as 'disabled'. Whoop-de-do.
                      What this result would suggest is that I would have to dump all existing templates and start from scratch, inputting my desired settings for things like snap mode right at the start. Yea or nay?

                        In some cases indicators can over ride the Snap Mode feature within NinjaTrader therefore after applying your indicators this may go back to "Bar and Price".

                          From the sounds of it then, what you are saying is that either I deal with the current situation or go through the inidcators which I am currently using, find if there is one which is causing the over ride and then not use it.

                            Correct the options would be to narrow down which indicator is over riding this feature or manually select the desired Snap Mode from the drop down.

                              Thankyou Christopher J for getting to the bottom of the question.
