Can't view historical data & volume

I am new to NT and just setup version 7. I connected to the simulated data feed and I am tracking USDJPY on forex. I put the Session Template to Default 24/7 which enabled to see the chart, but I can't load the last 5 days worth of simulation data. Also I don't see any volume after I added the VOL, VMA and Volume Counter - thinking one of them must be volume.

What am I missing?

Welcome to NT and our forums Simon - the Simulated Feed is an internal generated, canned feed it would not offer any historical data access therefore. The Indicators need 20 bars on the chart before they would show any data, that's called the instable period...

For real world FX data you can connect to the free Kinetick End Of Day connection preinstalled with NinjaTrader 7, it will allow access to daily and higher intervals to most of the symbols.

Thank you Bertrand. It took 20 bars for the volume and range to show up, but the candle sticks (1 min) were up instantly. How do I save the template, so I don't go thru this problem again?

Simon, great. You would unfortunately not be able to save the generated data - when you reconnect to the feed another set of data would build. It's really meant for testing only and has little correlation to realtime, dynamic market data (for those testing purposes we have the Trend Slider as well, so you can have more control). As alternative I would consider a subscription for example to Kinetick which would offer access to high quality realtime and historical FX data from many contributors.
