Why isn't my Simulated Data Feed working properly

The simulated data feed only populates one candle, which moves up and down, rather that sideways.

    I trade using a 2000 tick chart.

    I have a NinjaTrader demo.

I opened my NT platform today while the market was open. I then disconnected my CQG demo feed, and connected to the Simulated Data Feed. But as mentioned, after connecting to the SDF, it only populated one candle, and moved up and down according to the trend level.

            Hello patpat,

Thank you for the follow up.

Unfortunately this would be expected when connecting to the Simulated Data Feed as this data feed does not provide any historical data.

You can modify the Sim feed starting price to match the current price if you are able to get current data from CQG:
            • Control Center > Tools > Instrument Manager...
            • Type "ES" into the name field > Click Search
            • Double left mouse click on the ES Future that appears in the Grid below
            • Adjust the Sim feed start price to match that of the last traded live price.
            • Click OK when finished

When you connect to the Simulated data feed, the data should start to play at the same price level that the live data was at.

I would expect the data that was obtained while connected to CQG to remain. Do you have historical data enabled on your CQG account connection?
            • Control Center > Tools > Account Connections...
            • Highlight the CQG account connection > Change...
            • Click Next
            • Is historical data enabled? If not, enable and click Next, Next and then Finish
            • Retest the situation with historical data enabled for CQG.

Thank you for your reply. I checked the settings that you suggested. In the instrument manager, the simulated data feed price was set at 1599.25. So I assume that price is set where it is supposed to be.
I then opened the account connections per your instructions, and checked to see that my historical data is enabled. It was already enabled, as I knew it was because I set it up that way. So I still have the problem of the simulated data feed only populating one candle, and moving up and down, instead of sideways Hmmmm....

                Hello,

Please contact me by email at Support AT NinjaTrader DOT com. In the message please include a link to this forum thread and a copy of today's trace file.

The file is located in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder. I would need the 'trace.20130630.txt' file.
