    Average Memory Consumption

    Hi,

What would be an average memory consumption for NinjaTrader on WinXP?

I seem to generally be using around 400,000k according to Task Manager.

It also seems that when starting Ninja consumption is much lower at around 200,000k, or less, then it slowly grows during the day. Is this usual?

    Thanks.

Just restarted. Upon Ninja starting and connecting, Task Manager says 148,000k being used in memory.

Has grown to 156,000k in a few minutes.

Depends on what your are doing, # of things open: charts, indicators, strats, trades....
Whether you are opening/closing all these things...

            Hi ScottieDog,

            Thank you for posting.

Correct, it would depend on what you are running with NinjaTrader, charts, SuperDOM's, strategies and so forth.

If you notice any slowness or bogged down, the link below will take you to a PC Performace Tip section of the help guide.

              Hi,

I had 2 charts open and one DOM, totally minimal. For the purpose of this exercise I did not touch or amend or close or open anything at all whilst I was checking the memory usage over the time period.

              1) So, is it usual for the memory usage to simply get larger and larger with time, regardless of whether opening/amending new/existing windows?

              2) It surprised me as to the amount of memory being used, I have to say. And what surprised me more was the way it continued to rise even though I was not adding new windows or anything.

                ScottieDog,

Do you have any indicators on the charts and/or strategies running?

In windows vista 32 bit, I'm at 65k for NT, 11 charts, let's say 3 ema's on each chart, and at least 2 custom indicators on each chart.

                      1 dom, 1 output window.

Just futures and indexes here, with data recording enabled.

You may have to go longer and see if the GC collector ever kicks in?

                          Hi Sledge,

Thanks for your reply. Now that´s the sort of thing I would expect, and with 11 charts too.

                          I´ve deleted everything, started a new workspace with 1 chart, 3 x EMAs, nothing more - 112k

Thanks once again for confirming from your end. All the best!
