    charts won't update for some symbols

    Some charts won't update sometimes for some symbols. If I change the symbol, then the change may start updating. I return to the symbol that wasn't updating, chart still won't update. The chart may not update for a particular symbol for a few weeks. Then one day, it will work again. And other symbols may not work any more.

    Has anyone seen a problem like this? Any solutions?

    Who are you connected to? This is displayed by green on lower left corner of the Control Center window.

    What instrument(s) have you selected?

    What interval(s) are selected?

    Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

      I'm connected to TD Ameritrade. The problem occurs for SPY, AAPL, and LNKD. AAPL had been working for many weeks, then suddenly stopped updating last week. I've selected intra-day intervals of 1, 5, 15, and 60 min. If I restart NinjaTrader, then the charts will update to the point in time NT was restarted, but will not update after that. No errors on screen. No error messages in the Log tab.

        Hello Trader61,

        There may be some corruption with historical data files that have been downloaded to your computer.

        Please use the steps I have provided below to delete your cache data:

        * Close NinjaTrader
        * Open (My) Documents/NinjaTrader 7/db/cache/
        * Delete all files within this folder
        * Go up one directory to the /db/ folder
        * Repeat this procedure for the tick, minute, and day folders as well
        * Restart NinjaTrader
        * Connect

        Open a new chart without any indicators or templates applied to see if you are able to load a chart.

        This initial load may take a little longer than normal since all new data is being loaded from the historical data servers. After everything has loaded please restart NinjaTrader and let me know if you continue to experience a slow load time.

        Let me know if that does not work for you.

          Thank you for your reply. I followed your instructions. Charts for AAPL are updating again. But SPY and LNKD are still not updating. They load all the data in the chart up until the point that connect is established and do not update further. If I disconnect and connect again, they update, but only up until that point. Any other ideas?

            Thanks for your reply.

            In the Control Center please select the SPY instrument on the Orders tab.

            Are you seeing the Bid, Ask, and Last prices and volume changing?

            Try this for LNKD as well.

              I see it changing for AAPL, but not for SPY or LNKD. The Bid, Ask, Last and volume are all n/a.

                Hi Trader61,

                This means that you are not receiving this data from TDA.

                Are you able to view this live data in the TDA platform?

                You may want to contact TDA and see if you are enabled for these instruments.

                  Hi Chelsea,

                  Yes, I can view live updating data for all symbols, LNKD, SPY on the TD platform. I will contact TD about the problem and see what they say.

                  Another note, I have access to a 2nd machine also using NinjaTrader. This second machine also has the exact same problem with SPY. Charts won't update for SPY. But it doesn't have the problem with LNKD. I am considering what scenarios I might do here to possibly export from the working LNKD machine and import the workspace into the machine that has the problem with LNKD.

                    Thanks for your reply.

                    What you may want to do is ensure that the symbol mapping for the system that does not get data matches the symbol mapping for the working system.
                    To do this go to Tools> Instrument Manager
                    Select the instrument you want to check/modify and press Edit
                    Select the Misc tab
                    Scroll down to Symbol Mapping - TD Ameritrade
                    Use the same symbol mapping from the good system to the bad system
                    Next I would recommend clearing the cache on the bad system by exiting NinjaTrader and opening the following directory in Windows
                    (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\cache
                    Delete the contents within this folder, restart NinjaTrader, and test
                    BrandonNinjaTrader Customer Service
