    Simulator P/L question

Running sim trying to learn trading the ES. My ATM strategy is 5 contracts, 2 point SL, target for 3 contracts, 3 ticks, target for the remaining 2 contracts is 5 ticks. I manage the runner 2 contracts after the order is filled, dragging the target higher or lower as the case may be. Ditto with the S/L.

This morning I executed and a long limit @ 1331.75 and was filled 1 contract at 31.75, the other 4 were filled at 1332. The T1 was hit at 1332.75 and 3 were sold. I moved the remining 2 up and they ended up sold at 1333. 75. Before the trade, under the accounts tab in the control center, my sim account balance was 95,130. After the trade my account balance was 94,980. The sim is set at default settings and to me this looked like a profitable trade. Why the drawdown in the account??

I have not touched the sim since installing Ninja and want things to be as realistic as possible to save losses when I start trading my live account however it looks like something is not right with the sim account balance after what seemed profitable.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all for helping us newbies.

    Carr,

I have not heard of this before.

Can you reset your simulator under Tools--> Options--> Simulator tab--> Reset.
Then submit the same order and check the Account Balance again. Does the same thing happen?

Will reset and see what trading does to the account balance... Im trading with real time data from my E Signal account but I will post another trade as it happens.

Vincent thanks very much for the info. Additionally is there a place in the sim where it posts the net point gain or loss for any particular trade??

You can see this in the Performance section under the Trades tab.

Just make sure you have set up your commissions. Instructions on how to set up commissions van be found below:

First you need to open up the Instrument Manager and highlight the contract in the middle section and click Edit. This will bring up the Instrument Editor. Then click on the Misc tab and click click on the '+' button for your datafeed provider. Then enter the minimum commission and click OK.
Then go to Tools--> Options--> Commission tab and do the same thing for Futures - Datafeed Provider and click OK.
Then under Tools--> Options--> General tab, make sure that 'Apply Commission to P/L Calculations' is checked.

I am running the simulator to test my automated strategies. I want to review the performance and would like to see a day by day breakdown. I know that this is available when trading real money. What I have been doing is taking a screen shot at the end of the trading day. Is there another way to do this?
