Error with v15 FXCM

    Error with v15 FXCM

    I had NT up and running and connected to FXCM. I then connected to my second broker IB and all was fine, except I was not getting streaming data for $AUDJPY from FXCM (a common problem). I went to that chart and right-clicked and Restore All Historical Data and NT crashed. When I restarted NT and try to connect to FCXM, I get the attached error message. Also, when I now click on the Options... and Historical Data Manager... menus, nothing happens and no windows open for them. I must reboot the computer to clear this.

    Thanks for your post.

    It seems something prevented NinjaTrader from properly updating such as NinjaTrader may have been running during the upgrade.

    To resolve this please uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader. Following these steps will not affect your data, settings, configuration, NinjaScripts, Workspaces, ect.


    First save your license key to a document
    You can locate your license key by going to Help> License Key
    Now exit NinjaTrader and uninstall it within Windows Control Center
    Next open the following directory within Windows
    C:\Program Files (x86)
    If you do not have this directory open C:\Program Files
    If you see NinjaTrader 7 under here, delete it
    Once uninstalled you can redownload NinjaTrader from the link below

    Under Current User paste your license key
    Select Download NinjaTrader
    Download and install Version 7.0.1000.15 (Current)

      Yes, I think you are right. I reinstalled and it seems OK now, other than FXCM consistently not providing all instrument live data. I have been using IB for that.

        Thanks for your reply.

        I'm glad to hear that worked.
        Please note that the latest version has an updated api and new data options for historical data: http://www.ninjatrader.com/Advisory/Advisory20.php

        As for realtime data please take note of Disclaimer 4 when creating the FXCM connection
        You may need to open the instrument not plotting by opening it in FXCM Trading Station.
        Of course you may continue to us Interactive Brokers also.

          Hi,

          My question is: The historical data I'm downloading from the servers of Ninja ( “Use NinjaTrader servers”), originally comes from FXCM??

            That is correct, the data will be from the FXCM data feed.

                  What type of set up do you have with FXCM?
                  • Agency Retail Client
                  • Agency Active Trader Client
                  • Dealing Desk Client

                  If you are not sure FXCM would be able to provide your this information. The type of client you use will help determine what server to use for your data for best accuracy.

                    I have a no dealing desk account with FXCM. I had to stop my lease with NT because I could not automate using FXCM. Some pairs would not update even though I did not have the FXCM trading station open while using NT. Do you know if there have been any improvements in this problem over the last few months?

                      Hello,

                      Can you please provide some examples of instruments you were unable to access? I have no information specific to 'no dealing desk' accounts unfortunately.
