lost Fib templates on Update

    lost Fib templates on Update

    just updated to 7.15 and all my Fib templates are gone
    was this a fluke? or should i do something before i update next time ?

    There is no direct reason these should be lost.

    Exactly how did you update? Did you uninstall NinjaTrader?

    Are the names of the fib templates still there, or are they all gone?

    Was NT shut down when you upgraded?

      just did the normal update procedure with NT closed
      using the update download from NT site...
      names are still there, but all have "default" levels...

        Can you please go to Help--> Mail to Support and send me your log and trace files as well as "workspace files and UI settings" and "template files".

          sending the files...
          i did change the "default" fib template but not the custom templates
          but the custom templates are now coming up with the new default settings

            this could be a problem... NT is now locked up after sending the files to you... ?

              false alarm... just uncovered the message saying:
              "could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"
              in a Windows Internet Explorer error window...
              i don't use this machine on the net other than to receive market data and do updates
              can i get the files to you some other way - a bit more manually...

                Please contact us with the files at Support AT NinjaTrader DOT com.

                In the message please include the following:

                1.) A link to this forum thread.

                2.) A copy of today's trace file. The trace file is located in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder. I would need the 'trace.20130814.txt' file.

                3.) A copy of today's log file. The log file is located in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder. I would need the 'log.20130814.txt' file.

                  the program was updated on the 10th, do you want those days' files also ?

                    Hi stafe,

                    The current day's files should be all that we need however if you'd like to include those files as well it couldn't hurt.

                      Was the root of this issue ever identified? Please let me know what the solution is, as I just realized I have the same issue - the templates for Fibs are in the drop down, but upon selection the values remain the same as for the default template.

                        We have two separate use cases where this can happen.

                        Under one circumstance if the fibs templates have been transferred from one PC to another, they are not guaranteed to work.

                        There are also other cases unrelated to files transfers that we cannot reproduce. If you have information as to why this may have occurred that you can recall, we'll be happy to look into that.

                        In either case, it's not possible to restore the functionality and the fibs unfortunately need to be recreated. Our support team will be glad to give you a hand with that if you need.
