Backfill without reload all historical data?

    Hi,

I'm using IB for data feed. When I connect to IB right now, it did not automatically backfill my charts to make them current. Is there a way or an option to set so that it will automatically backfill my open charts upon connection?

I would prefer not to use the reload all historical data option because some of my charts stretches over a long period, which would cause errors with IB's data limitation. Or is there a way to activate a backfill of the data I'm missing, rather than a full reload?

    Thanks.

        Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.

What behavior would you see in a new workspace? (File > Workspaces > New Workspace)

          Hi,

If I open a new workspace, and open a new chart specifying the days to load, it loads up fine.

            Hello,

Under Tools--> Options--> Data tab, do you have "Get Data From Server" checked? When this options is checked, it should reach out to the historical data servers automatically and request data for your charts without having to manually reload.

If this option is checked, can you please tell me exactly what instruments and interval you are loading?

              Yes the option is checked.

              My charts have the following:
              SGX Nikkei (1-min, 3-min, 60-min, 200 volume)
              ES (1-min)
              SGX China A50 (3-min)

Sent. You can look towards the end of the log/trace files, where just now when I connected to IB at 9+, it did not auto-load historical data so I manually reloaded the historical data.

Thanks Brandon. I tried that but came back to the PC to find that NT froze up. Can you confirm whether you received all you need to progress this support query?

                          Hello Instamess,

                          Thanks for your reply.

I did not receive the files.
Please manually attach your log and trace files from yesterday, so I may investigate this matter further.

You will find the log file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.

The log file will be named "log.20130829.txt"
You will find the trace file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.

The trace file will be named "trace.20130829.txt"

Once located send the files as attachments to support[atninjatrader[dot]com
In the message put ATTN Brandon and include a link to this forum topic.
