Why is NinjaTrader slower when zoomed out?

    Hi,

I'm using multiple moving average indicators ("rainbow").

I noticed, when zooming into the chart, the UI responds okay. But when I zoom out the UI starts to lag (especially the crosshair) everytime the indicators get updated.

Why is that ? Doesn't NT cache the values of indicators ? If so, shouldn't the required processing power be the same no matter if zoomed in or out (-> only required to update indicators for last bar) ?

Zoomed out, NT has to draw more plots - but the drawing alone shouldn't be so time consuming ?

    Thanks

Since much more info needs to be rendered on the chart. This is nothing to do with the indicators calculations.

So it's "just" the drawing of multiple plots being slow ?

Seems to be so. I just replaced the calculations of the "complex" MAs and it's still slower. So it's the rendering.

Hopefully this can be improved. Drawing several plots shouldn't make a modern CPU sweat .

But that's a future suggestion. I'm going to add it to my other "performance" thread.
