Data absent for softs

    Data absent for softs

    I am not able to bring up data for any of the "soft" futures, Sugar, Coffee, OJ, Cotton, Cocoa.

    No data in my DOM or charting. Its the first time I have ever attempted to do so.

    I do not see any error message in the log.

    I am using 7.0.1000.14 version, multi broker live.

    I have no reason to think my broker has not enabled for this.

    Thank you for contacting us.

    Can you please specify the symbols and contracts which you've tried? (ES 09-13 for example)

    Additionally, please let me know which data provider you use.

    Finally, please provide the full text of any error message which you encounter when attempting to bring these instruments up.

      Symbols are:
      CC 12-13
      CT 10-13
      KC 12-13
      SB 10-13
      I use 2 data providers, Zenfire and CQG and have tried both and still lack of data.
      I do not see any error messages, including the log

        Thank you for clarifying.

        I am able to recreate the issue here. While NinjaTrader servers do not offer historical data for any of the symbols, real-time data is something you should be able to access after making some changes to the instrument's symbol mapping. I have not yet been able to find settings for the Zen-Fire connection however the following changes should allow you to access real-time data via CQG assuming that your account is authorized for these symbols.

        To apply the changes:
        • Please open the Instrument Manager (Tools > Instrument Manager) then select an instrument from the list on the right and click Edit.
        • In the Instrument Editor, navigate to the Misc tab and scroll down to the Symbol Map section.
        • Enter the correct symbol mapping (see below) in the CQG field then click OK.



        NinjaTrader symbol - Symbol Map
        CC - CCES
        CT - CTE (no change)
        KC - KCES
        SB - SBES

          Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed with finding out about the Zenfire settings?

            Hello,

            I'm trying to find a symbol catalog which I can derive the correct settings from however I've not yet found the resource. I'll update you with those settings as soon as I can.

              Hello Mdblythe,

              This is Vince following up for Kyle who's out of the office.

              We've tested on our end and were able to get some data in, however there was barely any volume.
              Can you please do the following and let us know if this corrects your issue:
              - Disconnect from Zen-Fire
              - Reset your instruments under Tools--> Options--> Data tab--> Reset instruments
              - Restart NT and connect to Zen-Fire
              - Open up the Instrument Manager under the Tools menu
              - Do a search for the CC instrument, once found highlight it and click the '<' button to move it to your default instrument list on the left
              - Do this also for the CT, KC and SB
              - Once done click OK and open up a chart for a common instrument like the ES 09-13
              - When the ES chart is running, start typing in the chart (a small window will open up)
              - Type in CC 12-13 and hit Enter
              - Data should come in now
              - Test the other contracts as well the same way as above by typing them in manually

              Let us know if this corrects your issue.

              Keep in mind there is very little volume and there is no historical data so the charts might not look what you're used to.

                  Issue with soft commodities and Ninja Trader

                  I use IB for my data source and I can only load data for Cocoa (CC) but not for any of the other soft commodities on Ninja Trader. I have traded them charted them on IB for months, so I know the data is there, just do not know why I can not see it on Ninja Trader

                        These are the correct versions.

                        When attempting to access the other symbols, does an error appear? What does the error report to you?

                          There is no error that comes up. When I load SB, it shows up with no data and when I load up KC and CT contracts, they show up with little to no data. CC is totally fine. They are all July contracts and NYBOT for the exchange, the same as my charts on IB.

                            • You will find your configuration file in the following directory:
                            • (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\config.xml

                            Once located, please attach the config.xml file to the email.
