LineAlert with CoBC = true

Hi everyone

The LineAlert indicator seems like a really powerful tool to use.

I notice from the code that it is, by default, set to CalculateOnBarClose = false.

I wish to follow a few instruments with this and I don't have a very powerful PC so I always set CalculateOnBarClose = true.

I use range and renko bars.

Will LineAlert be just as effective with CoBC = true?

Thanks for your post.

When using the LineAlert indicator CalculateOnBarClose true can cause different behavior.

The alert in this situation would only be able to trigger when a bar closes. The close of this bar must also cross the line. This means that the price could cross above the line and then cross below again and the the alert would not trigger as the line would not be crossed at the close of the bar.

For this particular indicator, it is much more useful with CalculateOnBarClose false allowing the alert to be triggered intrabar.

I now understand how the behaviour would be different with CoBC = true, thanks to your very clear explanation.

It could be argued that using it with CoBC = true is even more powerful as that shows a definitive crossing of price rather than a more temporary or tentative crossing when it is set to false.

I'll see how it works in practice.
