    Long term trades

    Hi,

I just want to ask if there is a way to make long terms trades through Ninjatrader.
I mean e.g. to be in a position a few days or weeks with activated stoploss and profittarget.
Because as I know when I open a position and turnoff ninjatrader the stoploss and profit target disappear.

    Thanks Martin

    Hello.

    Thank you for your post.

In order to keep Stop Loss and Profit Targets active overnight prior to submitting your order please set the TIF (Time In Force) to GTC (Good Til Cancelled) as opposed to Day.

Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

      Hello,

Where can I find this settings? Or do I have to do it in a code? If so, What about if I open a position via application not through strategy?

      Thank you in advance.

If you are running an automated strategy you set the "Time in force" within the Order Properties section of your parameters when adding the strategy.

If you using the SuperDOM this can be selected from the TIF drop down.

If you are using Chart Trader this option will be selected within the ATM Strategy parameters window which can be opened by left clicking on the ... box in the Chart Trader panel.

          Hi,
but in case of long term trading I won't have opend ninja trader 24h a day. So does it mean that the StopLoss and PtofitTarget is set up at broker side?

          Thankx.

Hi Martin, that would depend as well on the broker you're trading with and how the OCO logic potentially used in your trading would be implemented - http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ead.php?t=5349

If you are running any kind of strategy that would depend on current price info to adjust your stops / targets then of course it would need to be connected to manage that for you, as the strategy would not run server side but clientside.
