Why do my 5min and 1min charts look like this???

I switched from metatrader to ninja trader and love it but im trying to figure out why the lower timeframes like the 5/1min charts look weird like its not as smooth and not like it does on metatrader. I really like ninja trader and thinking about buying it if i can work this issue out.

How it looks on my ninjatrader.......

How it looks on the metatrader platform the i was using....

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us with this question.

I do not have a copy of metatrader to test with here. Which data source does this platform use?

Which data source are you using within NinjaTrader?

        Hello,

        Thank you for clarifying.

When testing here, your data seems very similar to what I see when using FXCM as a data source. (see attached) Ultimately, NinjaTrader is able to guarantee that data will be displayed as it is received (which seems to be the case here based on our results) however there is no guarantee that the data of two different market data sources would match, especially when using forex instruments which have no central exchange.

            Hello,

Taking a step back, what data source does the other platform use? Ideally, you'd want to connect NinjaTrader to the same data source if you wish to see the same data provided by that source.

                Hello,

No, unfortunately that data source is not supported. Moving forward, I'd recommend contacting that provider for more information about the underlying source of their forex data. Once this information is clear, we should be able to assist you in finding another source for that data.

                  Comparing apples to oranges

Although both charts show the time period from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, they cannot be compared, because one of the charts is in Central European Time and the other one in Eastern Time, one shows Friday's price action and the other one Sunday's price action.

The MetaTrader chart shows the price action during Friday's regular session between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EST. During that time the market is pretty liquid, and in fact the NinjaTrader/FXCM chart looks near-identical to the MetaTrader chart.

The NinjaTrader chart shows the Sunday evening session between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM EST. During this period the markets are illiquid, because next to nobody trades FOREX on a Sunday.

There is nothing wrong here, except the comparison. Please find below two charts from my data provider (neither MetaTrader nor FXCM) comparing Friday's price action between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM EST (liquid market) to Sunday's price action between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM EST (illquid market).
