    System Unresponsive after Reset

    Dear Sir,

    Has tried to Reset the Sim101 by going to Options > Simulator. However, the NinjaTrader tends to be unresponsive for 5 min now and still waiting. What should I do? I haven't connect to COG before Reset. Is this the reason? Don't want to reinstall Ninja.

    Thanks for your post.

    The reset of the Sim101 account can take a while as it is removing trades from the database file. During this time NinjaTrader will not be responsive as the reset uses the same thread as the NinjaTrader user interface. However, giving enough time NinjaTrader should be able to complete the task.

    A quick way to completely reset the database is to:
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader
    • Delete the file: (My) Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\NinjaTrader.sdf
    • Restart NinjaTrader


    If you are to do so, the following items stored in the old database will be lost:– ATM Strategy templates, Session templates, Instrument Lists / Custom Instruments, and historical trade execution data.

      Dear Chelsea,

      It's over 20 min now and still waiting. Is this normal? I have traded the Sim101 every day for over 1 year now. What's the typical time required for the reset? If I close the program in the Window Task, will this crash the program? What's a better way to exit the clearing process?

        Do I need to connect to COG before doing the reset? I am trading a LIVE and Simulation account simultaneously.

          Hello Tiffany,

          No, you do not need to be connected to your broker to do the Sim101 reset. You can reset the sim account connected or disconnected.

          The amount of time this takes is very dependent on your computer's speed and the amount of trades that are in the database file. This can vary greatly.

          If it doesn't recover anytime soon, go ahead and force NinjaTrader closed using the task manager. Then delete the NinjaTrader.sdf database file as per my post #2.

            Dear Chelsea,

            For your information, NinjaTrader finally comes. I think it takes at least two hour because I went to sleep after that and this morning I've found it's completed the Reset. The following may be useful to those who have similar issues. I have traded every night for over a year, may be 30 trades each night. This gives an idea of the size of the database.

            OS : Vista 32
            Memory : 4 G
            CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66G
