Historical Data Download Crashes

I have just subscribed to Kinetick and am trying to download tick data for the NYSE and Nasdaq stocks. I requested data from 4-15-13 to 6-30-13 for 2730 Nasdaq stocks and left my computer to run overnight. When I checked it the next morning, it had written files and folders for 2014 stocks in about 2.5 hours, but then it apparently hung up and quit writing files. When I checked it, the NinjaTrader.exe process had used 5.5 hours of CPU time and was using 13% of the CPU on a dual threaded quad core (in other words, its thread was max out). NinjaTrader was completely locked up. I was able to close other programs, but I could not get my Start button or Task Bar. I killed NinjaTrader from Task Manager and restarted Windows.

Before I left that morning, I started a similar job to download NYSE stocks and essentially the same thing happened again: downloaded 942 stocks in 96 minutes, then locked up and the CPU went crazy. I checked Tack Manager while it was downloading stocks before I left for the day and NinjaTrader.exe was using only 1-2% of CPU time; when I returned it was back to running 13% and had not downloaded any data for 8-10 hours.

I would appreciate any help with correcting this. I am running NinjaTrader ver. 7.0.1000.7.

Thank you for your post.

There have been quite a few updates to the Kinetick API and to the software itself since the 7.0.1000.7 version of NinjaTrader was released in August of 2011. As I know of no such issues with the current 7.0.1000.16 release of the software I would recommend updating and testing again.
