After Historical Data Import, the instrument is not available for charting?

    G'Day folks,

I hope that someone can help me please....

I have sucessfully imported some Historical Data (AORD...Aussie XAO index) however after many hours of trying, I cannot work out how to make this new data available for displaying in a chart or ideally for use in Backtesting etc?

Can anyone suggest something to try?

    Many Thanks.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

What file name was used when importing data?

Do you see the data in the Historical Data Manager's Edit tab? (Tools > Historical Data Manager)

      Hi Kyle,

As a result of your question, I've noticed that my data had some really dodgy dates throughout and so I've now sorted that out and have hit another stumbling block (for now).

      My file name is AORD.Last.txt

The first few records in the file look like this:

      20131118;5396.2;5398.4;5354.1;5377.9;631101500;537 7.9
      20131115;5352;5400;5338.8;5396.2;758151600;5396.2
      20131114;5317.5;5372.5;5317.5;5352;765457000;5352
      20131113;5386.8;5386.8;5307.9;5317.5;892313200;531 7.5
      20131112;5380.8;5413.9;5380.8;5386.8;792330700;538 6.8

I can see the first 2 records in the "Historical Data Manager....Edit.....AORD...Last...Day...2013 (2 items)"

Interestingly, the second record shown says 17/11/2013....same other details as the first record in the file(18/11/2013.....5396.20....5398.40....etc), but in the file (shown above), there is no record for 17/11/2013. or 16/11/2013.

      Is this the problem maybe?

Error in the Log says "AORD: Time stamp line 2 is smaller/equal than timestamp of previous line".

Could this caused by the "Import" options that I'm taking (have tried ticking "Generate 'Day' bars....etc) ?

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks.

Many thanks to Ryan L....all working fine now.

On case it helps someone else, I had 2 main problems.

            a) I had an extra column in my txt file...yahoo provide an adjusted close price column - I removed that

            b) yahoo provide the data in descending order - I changed it to ascending (earliest first)

            Many thanks:-)

              Charting & Data Feed

I have a problem when using the charting function in Ninja. I've updated the historical data thru historical data manager, and the market data look right.

However, when I use "File" "New" & "Chart", choosing the futures data eg, CT 05-14, CT 07-14, needed in "data series", all the chart created getting the same data whatever the contract month I selected.

And, the date & time of each daily bar are not correct.

              Kindly help.

PS: Data source is Kinectick EOD

                Hello,

Please open the Options menu (Tools > Options) then navigate to the Data tab. In the Data tab, set the Merge Policy drop down to 'DoNotMerge' then click OK. After making this change reload your charts.

                  Kyle,

Thanks a lot, it works after following your instruction. However, how to "correct" the date also?
It states "2013/11/30 3:00" for the last bar.

                    Hello,

Which instrument shows this date? It is possible that 12/1 data is not yet available on the EOD servers.

I connect to "kinectic", use "file" "new" "chart" function to create a futures chart.
The price data is correct, however, the date of last bar mentioned is 2013/11/30 3:00.,
I highlight the bar and the information shown in data box.

I have another problem when using the "new chart function".
How can I save the chart so that I don't need to redo all the things done (eg, lines & arrows drawn & some texts on the chart) when the market data updated next time?

                        Many thanks.

                          Hello,

Saving the workspace is the only way to retain these settings. To save a workspace, in the Control Center window click File > Workspaces > Save Workspace.
