Chart based on Price Action

Hi,

I would like to know if there is a way to configure my charts so that each bar is based on price swing only, based on a % or a dollar variation? For example, I would like bars to show moves of 6$ or more only, regardless of time.

Thank you for your post.

A range bar based chart sounds like it would meet your needs in this instance. You'll find Range under the Period: Type property in the Data Series window when creating a new chart.

Thank you for your quick reply Kyle. I tried to build a chart with the Range type and using Bars as the method to load bars for a stock (AA), using a 50 range so that I have only bars with a 0.5 dollars change. But most of the bars have a lower range than 0.5 dollars.

I don't totally understand your description. Please provide me with an image where you've highlighted one of these bars and detail what you find to be incorrect about the bar.

Please see file attached. Bars range are clearly lower than 0.5 dollars.

In fact I would like to create charts similar to the one in S&C article "The Livermore system" in May/June 1983 edition.
