Constant width envelopes

Hi,

I am in need of constant width envelopes (not MA envelopes).

Does Ninja Trader charting have this functionality?

Constant Width Envelopes are not included with NinjaTrader by default however this is something which could be added to the software with custom programming. If you have a Keltner Channel indicator, which allows to set a different period for the midband and the average range, then you can

- set the midband period to one (= typical price)
- set the period for calculating the average to a large number (e.g. 1000)

The resulting channel will be a constant width envelope around the typical price, see chart attached. Such an indicator can easily be modified to use the close instead of the typical price and to calculate the offset from a fixed number of ticks and not from volatility.
