FXCM Server vs Ninjatrader Server .... any difference?

When I create a connection for FXCM the dialog asks if I want to use FXCM server OR Ninjatrader Server.

It seems that the Ninjatrader server is much faster than FXCM server.

Is the DATA exactly the same? Or is Ninjatrader getting data from another server like Kinetick.

This is important to me as I opened account with FXCM in order to get a New York Close Candle on daily charts.

Please advise if the Ninjatrader server gets information directly from FXCM so its the same data but loaded faster....

FYI: I noticed that when I connect to FXCM server I get volume information (which I know is not truly relevant in Forex) but I want to confirm if I will see the same data.....

The data coming from NinjaTrader servers is FXCM data which should exactly match what you see provided by the native FXCM servers.

One last question.....

If I connect to Kinetick EOD and FXCM as second connection, my Daily Forex Charts would load from Kinetick... correct?

Is it possible to assign forex data to FXCM connection only? so that if I happen to connect to Kinetick EOD for Futures it does not overwrite my data from FXCM or affect it?

If you were to connect to Kinetick's free EOD service, then to FXCM this setup would ensure that all daily forex data originated from the Kinetick feed. All intraday data with this setup would come from the FXCM data feed however.

Since the FXCM connection provides forex data only within NinjaTrader, any daily futures bars you load would come from the Kinetick feed.

Is it possible to have Ninjatrader ONLY use Forex data from FXCM and not from Kinetick?

Or do I always have to remember to connect FXCM first and Kinetick second? So in case I connect to Kinetick first it wont override my data from FXCM?

In NinjaTrader 7 it would not be possible to choose which data comes from which connection. Data will always come from the first provider that has the data available in the order that they are connected.

This means that to always have Forex data come from FXCM you will need to connect to FXCM first and Kinetick second.

Today I realized that when you connect to FXCM servers, you START a new Daily candle at 5pm.

However, when you connect to Ninjatrader Server (as shown on the connection configuration dialog), it does NOT show a start of a candle at 5pm.

Why does this happen? Is there a way to correct it? This is important to me as I need to make my Daily chart decisions after the New York Close

I attempted to reproduce this to get an idea of what you are seeing. However, I am not able to reproduce this.

Here are the steps that I took:

1. Deleted all of my historical data
2. Connected to FXCM with use ninjatrader servers checked in account settings
3. Loaded $EURUSD daily chart
4. Took screenshot of chart with data box open
5. Exported grid view of historical data manager for $EURUSD -> Last -> Day -> 2014
6. Shutdown NT
7. Deleted all of my historical data
8. Changed server in account settings for FXCM to use FXCM servers
9. Connected to FXCM
10. Loaded $EURUSD daily chart
11. Took screenshot of chart with data box open
12. Exported grid view of historical data manager for $EURUSD -> Last -> Day -> 2014

The only way to reproduce the issue is to look at the bar at 5pm EST.

When connected to FXCM it will start a new bar. When connected to Ninjatrader it will continue to use the same bar.......

I dont know exactly when it makes it ok but you have to reload the chart later on in the day to get Ninjatrader to realize that it has started a new bar.

Hi pedroprada,

The forex session tonight closes and doesn't open until sunday. Due to this, I will not be able to watch the session end and the new begin.

I'm going to do some further testing with this to ensure there is not an issue, however, I am going to need to wait until Monday so that I can watch one session ending an a new session beginning.

I was not able to recreate this issue here in my test today when using the same process which NinjaTrader_Chelsea outlined above.

You mentioned that later in the day, the two feeds would match. From the issue's original occurrence at 5:00 around how long would you continue to see this behavior?

I am not sure.....

I left my charts open today at 6:26pm and when I go from instrument to instrument, UNLESS I hit Reload All Historical Data, it DOES not show the 5pm start bar.

When I click reload chart it shows me the new bar.

Why cant this happen automatically as when I select connect to FXCM servers?

Maybe I should create a Forex Session that ends at 5pm?
