Ninjatrader is STUCK!

    Ninjatrader is STUCK!

    I am not sure what is happening but I am getting Ninjatrader STUCK when I click on Data Series or Indicators.

    I press OK or CLOSE and it just gets stuck and it does not close the dialog box. My only way out is to go to Task Manager and force Ninjatrader to Shut down

    I dont know if I should Reinstall Ninjatrader. what do you suggest?

    It happens every time. I use a lot of charts but I dont use a lot of days when loading....

    Put ATTN: Cameron in the subject field and a link to this forum post in the body.

    Provide me with your latest Log and Trace files.
    You will find the log file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.

    * The log file will be named log.20140124.txt

    You will find the trace file in the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.

    * The trace file will be named trace.20140124.txt


    Please attach both of these files to your next response. If these files are over 4MB, please let me know and I can respond with alternative instructions.

        I made the Install of Ninjatrader version 21 and it was working fine until now....

        It got stuck again on the Data Series Catalog trying to load a chart....

        What is the next step?

          Hello,

          Please use the steps I have provided below to delete your cache data:

          * Close NinjaTrader
          * Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> db folder -> cache folder
          * Select all files-->Right mouse click-->Delete
          * Open NinjaTrader
          * Connect

          Open a new chart without any indicators or templates applied to see if you are able to load a chart.

            I keep having the same problem.

            I noticed that if I open a New Workspace, the problem does not happen but when I use my main Workspace (where I load 18 charts onto 4 monitors) then it gets STUCK in Data Series.

            Would this mean that my Workspace is corrupted or is there a limit on how many charts Ninjatrader can handle before it starts to get STUCK?

              Hello,

              You may have a corrupt workspace file.

              I would suggest rebuilding your workspace. Please keep track of what indicators you add back in so that we can narrow down what indicator is causing the issue if the problem returns. I also suggest making a backup of your workspace so we can restore a backup if the problem returns.

                Cameron,

                I uploaded my Backup Workspace. It still does the same thing...

                On every chart I create i make a backup.

                So I am not sure what is the cause of the issue....

                    As mentioned to you, Ninjatrader gets stuck when I try to load a new chart on top of my current Workspace (or the one I brought back from Backup).

                    I am not sure what you mean when you say "check to see what indicators are causing the issue"

                    I try to load a simple 5 minute chart with NONE Chart Template selected on my current space with 18 charts and I cannot click OK Or Close. It just gets STUCK....

                      Hello,

                      Your workspace and backup might be corrupt or an indicator on your workspace is preventing new charts from loading.

                      You will need to create a new workspace and load the charts one by one loading the indicators seeing what causes this issue.

                        I started redoing my Workspace.......

                        Adding chart my chart using my templates...... It worked fine until I was about to add the last 2 charts.........

                        It got STUCK AGAIN!!!!

                        What I find really strange is that I had the Old Workspace open and it did not affect adding charts into the new workspace. Then when I already had 10 charts open I closed the Old Workspace.

                        I am really starting to think that there is a limit on how many charts/indicators can be loaded on a chart before it crashes.............

                        Now I am back on the same place.... I am loading templates on 3 different instruments (7 charts per instrument =21 Charts)... I use the same templates for all 3 instruments..... I cannot load indicator by indicator..... as this would take forever and I have specific settings on each indicator.

                        I load usually 3-4 days of data....

                        Not sure what to do.....

                          What indicators are you applying to your chart?

                          If these are custom indicators, please contact the developer to see if there have been any updates.
