    Can't find Java

So I am working with ninja trader and IB on windows 8 & I am using the version you guys suggest. How ever I cant get ninja to start TS. It always pops up with a can't find java in windows system 32 folder. I know why it can't cause I don't have a system 32 folder is there a way to point ninja in the right direction??

Did some more digging today and factually the file is there so know I am really confused as to what the issue is the only issue I can figure is that the. Reference that Ninja trader is looking for is WINDOWS and not Windows!!! Is this a possible reason for this problem.

          Hello,

What is the full error message you are receiving?

Can you open TWS outside of NinjaTrader?

Yes trade work station will open out side of Ninja trader. NT simply will not auto initiate trade station properly. The full error is Login failed: Can't find Jave executable at C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe

              Hello,

This issue usually is related to running a 64 Bit OS. In order to get TWS to load without giving any error message about having to manually search for javaw.exe please do the following:
              1. Locate javaw.exe located in the following directory:
              a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.0_20\bin(Note your version may be different from jre1.6.0_20)
              2. You are going to COPY the javaw.exe file to the 'clipboard' (right-click Javaw.exe and select copy)
              3. Now paste it into the following directory:
              a. C:\Windows\System32(right-click the System32 folder and select paste)
              4. Once this is complete, the TWS shortcut on the users desktop will work with no errors.

I did not find the file as instructed. I did how ever find a copy of the file in both

                C:\Windows\System32\javaw.exe
                & in
                C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin

Now IDK if it matters if the file comes from the Jre7 folder. How ever I will try it.

This has made no difference the file is present in the appropriate folder and ninja trader returns the same error. Note Ninja trader still returns the error as.

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe" can not be found not

C:\Windows\system32\javaw.exe is there a way to change the reference.

sorry for responding so late but a full wipe of java and re install solved the issue but not without tweaking the version.
