Using Historical Data

I successfully imported ES 12-07.txt into NinjaTrader. This file contains one minute data of emini ES from 2003 to 2007 (from www.anfutures.com)

Tools -> Historical Data -> Import

How do I get Strategy Analyzer to use this historical data? I don't see "ES 12-07" listed anywhere.

Add ES 12-07 in the instrument manager to the default list.

I added ES 12-07 to the list using the Instrument Manager.

I created a new chart and selected ES 12-07 from the list. The chart is blank.

I created a new strategy analyzer and selected ES 12-07 from the list. I selected one of the built-in strategies, SampleMACrossOver, to execute the backtest. Nothing happens.

Maybe I don't have historical data? But I did this twice. Both times, NinjaTrader reports successful import.

What am I missing?

- Make sure your chart start/end time is in the range of the data that you imported
- Make sure time frame is based on data you imported
- You can check if data exists by exporting the data back out

If you do the following -

File > New Chart
Select ES 12-07
Set range from 1/1/07 to 12/1/07
Make sure your session start/end time is 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Select 1 minute
You should see a chart.

Still doesn't work.

Here are the first several lines of the imported file. I have no volume. Is that going to cause the problem?

Off the top of my head, a volume of zero would likely be a problem.
