    Holidays and Multiple Data Series

    Hi:

How do I convince a multiple data series chart to respect a holiday schedule?

    series 1) ^SP500 15minute intervals loading 20days
    series 2) ^SP500 60minute intervals loading 20days
    series 3) ^SP500 1day intervals loading 20days

When I add each of these series to their own charts, they look normal.
When I add several of these series a shared chart,
a void is displayed for the 2/17/2014 holiday.

    Thanks,
    -Terry Thrift-

    Hello terryt,

Thank you for your forum post.

This situation would be expected due to the setting for "Equidistant bar spacing" in the chart properties.

"Equidistant bar spacing" which is automatically set to false when mixing more than one series.

What this does is creates a time axis that is void of any missing bars so that mixed series of any type can all be accurately aligned to time.

When this property is set to true, bars have even space between them and missing time bars are excluded.

You don't have access to change this when there is more than one series applied to the chart - having 1 min and 5 min on the same chart for example.

With multiple series, the chart will use the same horizontal axis for all series, which means the space between bars won't be the same.

      Ryan:

      Thank you for the explanation.

I was afraid you might tell me that.
I assume that a scheduled but shortened session also takes up the width of a typical session.

Not inserting a whole blank day when all of the data series in chart have no session that day would seem like a nice feature to add.

It's good to see that blank sessions are not being inserted for weekend days when that is appropriate for the underlying set of data series.

      Thanks,
      -Terry-

          Hello Terry,

I have heard back from development and the suggestion to not insert a whole blank day when all of the data series in a chart have no session for that day is being tracked with ID# 956.
