    smtp problem

    Hi there.

    I have some problems on using the mailserver.
    we are using the default mail setup 127.0.0.1 port25 no ssl to send signals to a software application. Both application are set up on the same computer so only internal traffic on the computer with the internal ip.

    This way of using the mailsetup was no problem in the past.
    I've detected the problems in the log and last night the signals were not sended by email and after sending a succesfull testemail the signals were sended the right way tis morning.

    Any idea how I can prevent this situation?

    Hello Rob,

    Unfortunately I am not sure what caused the issue, so I do not know how to prevent it.

    Could it be there was another program running on your machine that could have blocked it?

    Have you experienced the issue before? If so, can you think of any consistencies?

          I'm testing again now on version21 and mailtest via 127.0.0.1 failed. I have to set up the mail account.I have succeeded in testing mail smtp.gmail option suggested before
          Can you confirm I cannot use the option 127.0.0.1 anymore?
          Even if this mail is sent to an application on the same computer? So only for internal traffic.

            Hello Rob,

            I am not aware of any changes in this regard. Nothing is listed in the release notes at the link below.


            When was the last time it worked without issue? Were there any changes on your computer when the issue started to occur?

              Let me make it clear. The issue in this thread concerned about Ninjatrader11.
              It looks like this problem is solved.

              Now I 'm testing the version 21 with the result posted in #5

              Hi Rob,

              As NinjaTrader application no longer allow mail relay via our own servers you will need to utilize a server that you have an account with.

              If your personal email allows you to setup Outlook and use as an SMTP you can used this. If your personal email does not, you could setup a free G-Mail account for sending emails.

              The below link has setup and screen shots for setting up NinjaTrader to utilize some of the more popular email servers.

              which way do you recommand? Dou you prefer Outlook if the 127.0.0.1-option is out of the question?

                Unfortunately it cannot be used anymore as per Lowell's post.

                I do not have a preference between Outlook or a free email account such as Gmail and Hotmail.
