Using NT with IB --- Why is my entry price displayed as a little worse on NT?

Hey NT team -- just a quick question with a picture for an example. Below is a trade I entered. I used a buy stop above bar 40 and I got filled at 187.58 according to IB (thin tan line). However NT shows the entry price as 187.63.

Is NT trying to factor in commissions or something? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

When connected to Interactive Brokers commissions will automatically be included.

If you go to the Accounts window within TWS does the Average Price match what is being displayed within NinjaTrader?

Yes it does. That's pretty neat. I prefer it that way.

      Another question:

Now I'm .02 above the NT entry area, but it says I'm -.02 as seen above. My assumption was that the average price area would be the 0 point. Why is it at -.02 when it's 2 cents higher?

Thanks as always for the fast and very helpful support.

Within the chart window the Last traded price is currently displayed however is the current Bid -0.02 from your average entry price?

I'm not sure since the chart is different now, but it was on the SPY. So it has to do with the bid/ask. I see.

If you would like the PnL to be displayed based off the Last price please go to Tools-->Options-->General tab-->Enable "Use last price for PnL" then click Ok.

Thank you. One more quick basic question. In the PnL display, what does percentage mean? What is it a percentage of?

                Hello,

It's a percentage of your Entry price.

When you left click on the PnL you can also display it in Points or Currency.

Thanks Vince. I usually just use the points but I've been curious about the percentage one. I still don't really understand the concept behind it. I don't get what it would mean if I got to 100% on it, etc. Can you explain it a little further, like you were explaining it to a child? haha..

Why would it be useful to use the percentage over points?

                    Hello Illusion,

There isn't much to explain. Some people prefer to see what they make (or lose) in percentage.

Perhaps someone in the community who uses the Percentage can let you know why he would use this.

If 0% is around my entry price, what does 100% in profit represent? I'm just trying to understand. There's not anything in the online manual about it.

This percent will be based off the entry price and where the instrument is trading. For example if you buy at $500 in order for the percent to display 100% the price would need to move to $1000.
