How NT records an exit if exit done while disconnected

    Hello,

I am currently using another charting/trading software and feel unhappy about the way it handles the exit of positions while disconnected from IB.

So imagine a position is manually opened, an OCO order sent to IB. Then, for any reason, NT is disconnected from IB. Meanwhile, the target price is filled, the other OCO order canceled, and the position is closed by IB. Then NT is reconnected to IB. What will then happen ? Does NT understand that the position is closed ? What is displayed in the Account Performance in this situation ?

    Regards.

PS: this situation cannot be tested on the demo version of NT, as the sim account is "inside" NT.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the post.

Once NinjaTrader has been reconnected we will receive the position update.

To see what is listed in the account performance section then you would need to regenerate a report.

You are correct in understanding that this can't be tested with the Sim account since the orders will not leave your computer.

Please see here for more info about where your orders reside:

CQG Orders in a state "Accepted" or "Working" are at the exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the

Do you mean that the close of this trade will be automatically added in the Account Performance ? As the trade was closed during the disconnection, will NT be able to associate properly this close in its db of all trades to the correct entry ?

Sorry to ask a precise answer, but this cannot be tested on sim 101. And I cannot use my IB sim account with a demo version of NT... This point is meaningful in my decision to switch to NT.

      Regards.

        Hello,

That is correct, once we receive the position update it will be listed. However, you would need to generate a report in the Account Performance section to have this reflected.
