NT Order Status "Unknown" for Open Working IB Position

    NT Order Status "Unknown" for Open Working IB Position

    Hello,

    I have an open Long position in GBPUSD.

    I am using NT 7.0.1000.22 (Live) and Interactive Brokers TWS Build 938.1e

    When I look at the GBPUSD position, NT lists the status and "Unknown" (red circle).

    I have attached a screen print of both NT and TWS.

    Can you please tell me why NT reports the position status as unknown ?

    Hello Lucius,

    Thank you for your note.

    Please follow the instructions below to repair the NinjaTrader database.
    • Disconnect NinjaTrader from any open connections via File > Disconnect
    • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Options
    • Select the "Data" tab
    • Press the "Repair DB" button
    • Press the "OK" button

    Once complete please restart NinjaTrader and connect to Interactive Brokers. If the order is still present and listed as Unknown please let me know.

        Hello Patrick,

        I completed another trade with USDJPY and the ``Unknown`` order status is still appearing in the NT order window.

        I have attached and screen print showing the IB TWS order log next to the NT Order log of currently open orders and yesterdays completed trades.

        Can you please let me know.

          Thank you for your update on this matter.

          Please send me your log and trace files for today so that I may look into what occurred. You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Mail to Support.             I had a limit order placed and woke up this morning seeing the market went through the order and it did not execute. Now I see this same unknown state. What happened?

              CRITICAL — If your inquiry involves live orders, please always reach out to your broker's Orders Desk immediately to confirm and manage your live orders and positions.

              This post is from 2014. Can you clarify that your case is directly related to this one? In other words, are you using NinjaTrader 7, are you connected to Interactive Brokers, are you trading live forex?

                Yes I'm using v. 7.0.1000.40 with a live ib connection but its futures instead of forex tws 960.2g

                  Please contact Interactive Brokers. What do they report about the status of this order?

                  Does this symptom persist if you restart your PC?

                    I contacted my broker. I messed up an execution. At least I know it was me and not the software.

                      Lucious, check if you have had many or serious connection loss, cause sometimes when the connection is recovered happens somehow that some working orders are not recognized. In my case I did the following:

                      1. Whenever I'm going to start the Strategy, I have to make sure that there's not any working order-related to the instrument.
                      2. I try to have my internet connection through cable and ethernet to minimize wifi issues.
                      3. If I see some working order as unknown, I immediately flat and stop the Strategy, and then restart it once again, cause a lost unknown order, might cause undesired fillings or margin issues.
