    Daily bar begin and end

    Hi,

I have not been using Ninjatrader for long and Im a bit confused on how it displays the current time for each bar...

I have my charts set for end of day trading - Session template 24/5.

I noticed that if today is 1/4/14 it will show the current bar as 2/4/14. I suppose that is when that bar ends and the new bar begins, right?

So when exactly do they tick over to the next bar? Im in Queensland Australia - Does it use the close of NY session or the open of Asian session.

Im with MB Trading if that makes any difference...

    Thanks!!

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

You are correct that the closing date and time of a bar is use for it's label.

So that I can provide more information about the bar's open and close times I need you to tell me which instrument is being used as this does vary from symbol to symbol.

This chart for example is the GBP...

It is already 8:10 local time (Brisbane) but it is still showing 1/4/13 on the last bar. Session template uses instrument default....

            Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me.

If this is a instrument which was included with NinjaTrader by default like GBPAUD, GBPCAD, GBPCHF, GBPJPY, GBPNZD, GBPSEK or GBPUSD the default Session Template setting is the 'Forex' session template.

The hours which make up the Forex session template can be displayed within the Session Manager however I have also attached an image which shows those hours here.

              Okay I see...

So this is basically how and what the Brokers use as well, I guess.

Will have a look at that just now.

              Thanks Kyle!
