    nt7 not starting even after reinstall

    Hi,

    I am on Windows 7. On Friday everything was working fine. Today when I try to start ninja, the process disappears within 1 second from Windows Task Manager without displaying any error. No log is written to the log or trace folder. Same thing happens when run in administrator mode.

    I have no antivirus and firewall apart from standard Microsoft Security Essentials (and I already tried turning off real-time protection) so I doubt anything is locking NinjaTrader 7 folder from reading/writing. In Resource Monitor/Disk Activity I see that only System and chrome.exe are accessing C:\Users\..

    Since Friday I installed these apps on the system: TortoiseSVN, WinMerge, Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable, Steam, RapidEnironmentEditor, SourceTree. I did not install any new Windows Updates. Only definition updates for Microsoft Security Essentials show up in Windows Update history.

    I tried repairing ninja trader installation. I also tried uninstalling and installing ninja again.
    I also tried uninstalling ninja and deleting Documents\NinjaTrader7 folder before installing it again.
    I tried uninstalling TortoiseSVN and Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.

    I can't find any relevant messages in EventViewer after I run ninja.

    I runned ninjatrader.exe in WinDbg. I attached the session.

    There may be an exception caught in the NinjaTrader trace for this issue. Please sen a note to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with 'ATTN: Patrick - 1055761' in the subject line and a reference to this thread in the body of the e-mail: http://www.ninjatrader.com/support/f...ad.php?t=65367

    Please manually attach your most current log and trace files to your e-mail, so I may investigate this matter further.
    • You will find the log file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Log folder.
    • The log file will be named "log.20140414.txt"
    • You will find the trace file on your PC in the (My) Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Trace folder.
    • The trace file will be named "trace.20140414.txt"

      As I said in the post no new trace or log files show up after running ninja so I don't have log.20140414.txt and trace.20140414.txt. Please read the post again. I attatched WinDbg session (I am not very familiar with it, but if you tell me what to do I can try to debug the app before it exits).

      I deleted the Ninjatrader 7 folder from documents in attempt of completely clean reinstall but maybe I could recover log and trace files from friday. Bur ninja was working just fine then.

        I found the solution from Endif


        (no idea how he figured it out)

        Hope you fix this bug soon. It affects people compiling C# from command line on the same computer as ninja.

        I guess you access c# compiler from ninja for strategy/indicator compilation and the path setting interferes with that. It's weird though that log does not even have chance to get written. Maybe you are using some library for that and it crashes as soon as it gets loaded with that PATH setting present.
