    Trouble Importing Tick Data

    Hello

I am attempting to import FX tick data but I keep running into errors. I have solved all of them that I have been able to figure out, but the the answer to this error seems to be avoiding me.

You will find 3 screenprints. The first one (error message) will show you the error and the log file.

The second one will show you the details of the log.

The third one will show you the title format an the data format that I have my tick data in.

It appears that NT is putting all of the data together, with no separation between the data and the rest of the necessary data, even though I have a space between them in my file. To me, it looks like I have everything formatted correctly according to the data import help file.

Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?

also, a suggestion for NT8 would be the ability to import data from a .csv file rather than only a .txt file. That would make life even easier.

    Thank you for your help

    Hello jg123,

There should only be one space between the date and time like below.

    The format is:
    yyyyMMdd HHmmss;price;volume

    Sample data:
    20061107 000431;1383.00;1
    20061107 000456;1383.25;25
    20061107 000456;1383.25;36
    20061107 000537;1383.25;14

I will forward your suggestion regarding .csv files to development. Thank you for your feedback.

        Thank you.

I have been working very hard trying to figure out how to convert my excel data to a .txt file that has only one space between the two columns. Does anybody have any insight on how to make that happen?

Unfortunately I am not aware of a way to convert data in that manner. Perhaps other users might be able to help you in this regard.

Thank you for looking into it for me.

I have finally figured out a way and it works like a charm. It adds some more steps to the process, but at least it works.
            1. copy and paste the two columns of data from Excel into Notepad
            2. Highlight the multiple spaces betwee the two columns created in Notepad
            3. Right Click - Copy
            4. Click on Edit --> Replace
            5. Paste copied items in "Find What" field
            6. Place cursor in Replace With field and enter 1 space with the spacebar
            7. Click on "Replace All"

and voila! all of the data is now only 1 space apart and appears to import properly in to NinjaTrader
