template deletion accidental?

hi,
i accidentally deleted a couple templates i had.
is there a way to recover them with out recreating them ?

Hello lightfoot500,

I suggest to check your Recycle bin and see if the templates are there. Right click and restore them.

If they are deleted from the Recycle bin, do you perhaps have a NinjaTrader backup file that contains the templates? If so, please restore the backup file.

If you do not have a backup file, I suggest to check if you can restore the templates by restoring a Windows system restore point.

If that does not work, I am afraid you will need to manually rebuild the templates.

i havent dumped my recyclye so lets hope they are there.
what would the .ending be ?
and would it just be under the name of the template?
i will search thru the recycle later, i am have someting urgent right now.

i looked and dont see them in the recycle.
as an experiment i created a template and then deleted it. but dont see that one in recycle either.
any thoughts on where it goes if not to recycle or why it isnt showing in recycle ?

Hello lightfoot500,

This probably has to do with the settings of your recycle bin. Select your recycle bin icon, right-click and select "Properties". Make sure that you don't have "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin" selected, as this will directly remove files from your PC and bypass the recycle bin.

sorry, my recycle bin has alot of deleted files. but i did check to see that "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin" was unchecked.
so i am confused why they templates arent going to recycles or am i just not seeing them ?

Thank you for your response.

You could right-click when you have the recycle bin open, go to Sort by -> Item Type. This will sort all of the items in your recycle bin by file type, alphabetically. The XML documents will all be grouped together at the bottom.

the problem is that the deleted template doesnt seem to be making it to the recycle bin. when ninjatrader deletes a template, are you sure it goes to windows' recycle bin ? maybe it goes to another recycle ?
i havent emptied the recycle in months, and i have sorted by alphpabet and by type but they dont show. as i said, i even did an experiment and created a template then deleted it but it doesnt show in my windows vista recycle bin.

When deleted directly from the NinjaTrader UI, template files will not got to the Recycle Bin. If you run regular backups, you could restore them by restoring your backup file.

If you have no backup you may be able to restore your templates to an earlier version in Windows.To do this:

• open your (My) Documents folder> NinjaTrader 7> Templates

• Right click on the Chart folder and select Properties

• See if you have the ability to restore to an earlier version

If not, you will need to recreate your templates
