Lock in a machine ID

Was wondering if it is possible to have my machine ID locked in.

I have had 6 bios upgrades since I bought my HP laptop which change my machine ID each time I upgrade. Then I have to re-license my 3rd party indicators. What a hassle.

Hello,

This would not be possible, the Machine ID is generated from your computer hardware. At any time if the BIOS, CPU, motherboard (and some other hardware) are changed on your computer the Machine ID will change.

This is to uniquely identify machines so that multiple computers are not licensed.

Were there a lot of issues with the laptop that you had to upgrade the bios that many times? That's insane.

None that I was aware of. Although, it did come configured with Win 8, but I always used it in desktop mode. Maybe there were Win 8 issues, I don't know. They never tell you what the upgrades fixed.

Yes, I have owned a dozen hp's and never had any bios upgrades, so I don't know what is going on, but I hope #6 is the final one.

At this time we still do not have a release date for NT8.

Its still in the works and getting closer but we still do not have a date.
