Apple (AAPL) stock split

Hi everyone

As everyone knows (unless you live on Pluto - and they'll probably be finding out pretty soon), AAPL split today (by 7).

Unless you make an adjustment, the AAPL charts will look completely skew-whiff. There's a very good NT video of what to do here:

It mentions a Yahoo feed, but it works just as well with Kinetick. You may have to restart NT after making the changes.

Interesting question: when will AAPL (market cap over $550 billion) enter the Dow? One day it'll be worth more than the lot of them put together...

Having made the previous post, just to add that, according to Yahoo (and taking the spilt into account), AAPL closed on Friday at 92.22, whereas, according to my Kinetick chart, it closed at about 90.38, making it appear that was a big gap on opening. So NT or Kinetick's 'split' calculations seem to be out somewhat but it's good enough - but it's only a charting problem for the next few days...

Thanks very much! I followed your steps and used Yahoo to update the split and dividend data. But it seems only Daily data are right. When I connect to IB, the minute data from June 9 of 2014 are right and the minute data before June 9 of 2014 are only 1/7 of the real value. I tried to delete all the aapl data from db folder under ninjatrader file and reconnected to yahoo and IB thereafter, but the aapl minute data problem is still there.

Can anybody help me solve this issue? Waiting for any advice and suggestion.

Thanks for your post.

Interactive Brokers has adjusted the split on their end.
You will need to go to Tools> Instrument Manager
Select AAPL and press Edit
Select the Misc tab
Select Splits and press the "..." button
Select the split info and press Remove
Once complete go back to your AAPL chart
Right click on the chart and select Reload All Historical Data

Followed your suggestion, now the minute data of aapl are all correct. However, the daily/weekly/monthly data before June 9 of 2014 are 7 times of the real value (back to the price before split).

Please help and teach me how to solve this issue.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tested and verified that IB has adjusted both the minute and day data.
Please exit NinjaTrader and open the following directory in Windows
Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db\cache
Delete the contents within this folder
Restart NinjaTrader
Right click on your chart and select Reload All Historical Data

Hi Brandon,

I tried your method and found there is problem in IB aapl split adjustmemnt. The aapl daily/weekly/monthly data are adjusted correctly, but the minute data when contain June 9 and before date are shown big gap down in the 30min/hourly/4h chart and seems the minute data before June 9 are not adjusted.

Could you help solve this issue ? I need the aapl minute data before June 9 of 2014.

Thanks for your reply.

Many data provider only adjust the split for minute data or daily data. When this is the case you can either leave it as it is or adjust for splits which will result in the corrected data then being incorrect. There is nothing that can be done to resolve this.
