NT7 Very slow after adding many intstruments

    Hi Forum,
I've added many instuments of NQ exchange and NYSE to Ninjatrader (around 3500).
Since then NT got really slow in everything. Is there a way to speed things up, because
it is somehow a waste of time if ie. the compilation of a strategy takes now >30 sec.?
But it's not slow every time when I hit compile, just randomly sometimes.
In general I have the impression that somehow I'm reaching NT limitations...
    All the best

    Hello fernlicht,

You can find tips and suggestions to improve performance of NinjaTrader.

If the slowness persist, I suggest to remove some instruments in the Instrument Manager. Remove the ones you will not use. Restart NinjaTrader and check if NinjaTrader is more responsive.

Do you run NinjaTrader in 32 or 64 bit?

How much RAM do you have?

Importing that many instruments will affect NinjaTrader's performance - there is no way to avoid this completely.

            Hello fernlicht,

            Thanks for your reply.

You have good specs but this could still be affecting performance.

I would recommend verifying that this is the cause by exiting NInjaTrader and opening the following folder in Windows
            Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db
Right click on the NinjaTrader.sdf file and name in NinjaTraderbkup.sdf
            Restart NinjaTrader and test
If the performance is better we then know it is your database
One thing you can do to try to reduce the load of the database file is exit NinjaTrader once again and open Documents\NinjaTrader 7\db
Delete the NinjaTrader.sdf file and rename the bkup one back to NinjaTrader.sdf
Start NinjaTrader and go to Tools> Options> Data
Select ResetDB (note this will erase all historical trade data)
If this does not help though then you would need to reduce the instruments added

What about NinjaTrader? Are you running the 64-bit version or the 32-bit version?
