    Switching between contracts on chart

I have a 1 minute chart of 6e with volume on same in separate window.
I have two contracts in the instrument list 6E-06-14 and 6E-09-14.
Both appear in the drop down box at the top of the chart.
When I try to switch between them it doesnt work properly, especially the volume will remain on the 06 contract if I switch to 09.
Changing the time period doesnt seem to work either.

Am I supposed to be able to switch between contracts easily? If so what might be the problem?

    thanks

    Hello poeds,

This is as expected, because the 6E is not rolled over yet to the 09-14 expiry (it rolls over on 6/13). So if you currently create a 6E 09-14 chart, it will receive realtime data from the 09-14 expiry, but historical data is loaded from the 06-14 expiry.

You can set 'Merge policy' to DoNotMerge if you like. Subsequently it will only load 09-14 data in the 6E 09-14 chart.

Please go to Control Center-->Tools-->Instrument Manager, highlight the 6E and click Edit. Set 'Merge policy' to DoNotMerge and click OK.

Remove and re-add the 6E 09-14 in your instrument list now that it has modified settings and click OK in the Instrument Manager. Instructions can be found at the link below.

      Hi
      Thanks works great.
I noticed one thing while editing the contract.
The contract months are specified correctly in misc/contract months ie dec, mar, jun, sept
but when you try an select a contract month from the main window you are presented with all the irrelevant months of the year as well.
      Why is this?

It provides you the option to select different expiry months in the Control Center-->Orders-tab. This is only available when Type is set to Futures. If you select one of your instrument lists, it will just list the instruments that are present on the instrument list - there is no selection for the expiry month.
