    offset values

    Hi,

I wonder how are offset values for each contract loaded on NT. Are they being calculated everytime I connect to a real time data feed, using the data from that feed? Or are they downloaded from some server of yours?

    Thanks

    Juan

    Hello Juan,

Thank you for your forum post.

You can view/edit the offset values for each contract from the Instrument Manager:
    • Control Center > Tools > Instrument Manager...
    • Type an instrument name into the name field > Click Search
    • For example: Type ES and then click Search
    • Double left mouse click on the ES Future that appears in the grid below
    • Click the Misc tab
    • Scroll down to Contract Months and left mouse click on this field > Left mouse click on the "..." elipsis that appears
    • You can edit/add a offset from this window.
    • Click OK when finished.

The initial offset values will be set per NinjaTrader when you install the software.

If you want to make sure you are using the offset values from NinjaTrader you can reset your instruments at your convenience:

When you perform an instrument reset, the following actions will occur:
    • User added instruments will not be affected.
    • Any changes you have made to the original instrument settings will be reset
    • Any changed symbol mappings will be reset including changes made for use with the Automated Trading Interface.

    • Disconnect from any data providers.
    • Control Center > Tools > Options...
    • Data tab > Reset Instruments
    • Restart NinjaTrader

      Hi Ryan

Thanks for the reply. I imported 5 years both of data, from txt files. Each file has one contract data. There is not however, enough data for ninja to calculate the offset values.

Is there a way for me to get the offset values from 5 years ago? resetting the instruments did not help

      Regards

      Juan
