    Ninjatrader and FXCM: P/L values do not match

    Hi,

    I'm testing Ninjatrader with FXCM and I'm having this problem: P/L values do not match the ones calculated by the broker.



    The commissions applied by FXCM that could affect this value, as far as I know, are just the different spreads offered in each instrument.

    Is it possible to retrieve the P/L value directly from the broker instead of calculating it from the last price?

    Thank you for your post.

    Unfortunately there is not a way to cause NinjaTrader to use a broker provided PnL however this is something which we hope to add support for in the future.

    Can you please tell me which 'Rate' value is listed in the Orders tab of the Control Center for the $NGAS and $ESP35_CFDEUR orders is shown?

      I'm sorry Kyle, I can't find any Rate value in the Orders tab

        Hello,

        I'm sorry for the confusion - this column is found in the Executions tab of the Control Center and not the Orders tab.

          Ok, perfect. It applies a rate 1 for $NGAS and EUR/USD and a rate 1.3384 for $ESP35_CFDEUR.

            Hello Emilio,

            Thanks for your reply.

            On my end the PnL in NinjaTrader matches the Gross P/L from FXCM Trading Station when trading these instruments.
            Please disconnect and go to Tools> Options> Data
            Select RepairDB
            Under Quote Currencies (FX) In select TenthPip
            Restart NinjaTrader and test

              I have another problem that is maybe related:

              Charts don't update automatically and each time I want to get the last prices I have to select: "Reload all historical data".

              Do I have to activate something to get the prices as soon as they are available?

                Thanks for your reply.

                When NinjaTrader connects to FXCM it opens all instruments it need in the FXCM Trading Station.
                If you close an instrument in FXCM Trading Station NinjaTrader will no longer update data for that instrument.
                FXCM Trading Station will only allow 20 instruments to be displayed at a time (although NinjaTrader does force more) so if you attempt to add it back FXCM Trading Station says it will only display 20 symbols at a time.
                This is a limitation since both platforms share the same API.
                Since you have both platforms open you will need to ensure the instrument is added in FXCM Trading Station.
