    IB connection ok - control center still showing sim101

    Hello - I have successfully connected IB's demo account to NT. However, when I execute a trade from NT, it is just posting to the default sim101 account -- not executed on IB either.

    Is there something else that needs to be done?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your post.

    This is working as expected. When using NinjaTrader in simulation the order is matched internally and never leaves the NinjaTrader program. To send your orders to IB you would need to subscribe to a live license key and place order in your live IB account.

      Does IB demo user account work with live license key?

      Hello,

      I have purchased a live license key. I am testing IB using the demo (i.e. not paper trading) account. The orders still do not seem to be passing thru to IB. Do I have to be using a live money account in order for me to see the trades pass thru?

        BTW, Global Sim is turned off...

          I have searched on previous posts and note that NT would treat IB's demo account and live accounts in the same way... so this should work.

          Why not?

            I have tested out using a live account:
            (1) IB connects -- all info can be viewed on account tab in control center
            (2) orders are not triggering to live account; recorded on sim101
            (3) Global sim is off

            Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

              How and where are you placing an order?

              If the order is going to Sim101 then you have that account set when placing the order. For example, if you are in the Control Center window Order tab, you can place an order --> Make sure the account is not the Sim101 but the IB account number.

                Hello Ray,
                Just figured it out -- I was trying to trade from the control center screen, which I didn't know does not automatically feed into live accounts. All good now.
