Buy/Sell signals disappear when template is added

    Hi there,

When I'm using the Strategy Analyser, I like to add the indicators and check them against the buy/sell indicators on the chart. However, when I load a template with my indicators (shown in the attachment), the buy/sell indicators disappear.

Is there anyway to load a template without them disappearing?

    Thanks!

    Hello scottyheist,

Unfortunately not. When adding a chart template in the Chart-tab of the Strategy Analyzer, it will remove the buy/sell executions.

      Hi Jason,

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to add this to the suggestions?

Sure, I will forward the suggestion to keep buy/sell executions in the Chart-tab of the Strategy Analyzer when adding a chart template to development.

I noticed the B/S signals seem to get stacked up at a certain point in time. They also appear to be getting aggregated (see attached).

Another thing I noticed was that if you manually place the indicators on the chart, they B/S signals stay on. Of course the problem is if you navigate away from the chart tab and then come back, all of the manually placed indicators disappear.

It would be nice if this could be added to the suggestion.

                Additional Question.

Being fairly new to using the Strategy Analyzer, I found that the orders remain if in my strategy I add the indicator using the Add(<indicatorName>);.

However, when I do this it appears the defaults are different the defaults I have specified by saving the defaults when placed on a chart (i.e., right-clicking in the properties/parameters of the indicator and selecting the "save..." option). I believe this places the default values in a template on the computer folder:
                <computer>\Documents\NinjaTrader 7\templates\Indicator
Is there a way to apply the chart-based "defaults"/template to the Strategy Analyzer "Added" indicator?

                  Hello mcatmull,

                  Thank you for your post.

                  You would list the parameters when adding the indicator in the code, so if I want a 20 period SMA I would use the following: Add(SMA(20));

                    Patrick:

The problem is not knowing all the names for all the various items that could be set/changed (NOTE: I don't have any documentation from the 3rd party vendor).

Is there any sort of XML method or process that will let you "apply" your indicator template from within a strategy?

If not, then can you assign the values you have defaulted in your template? I have tried using the intellisense to see if the values come up but it appears to have so many and the trial process simply takes too long.

Any help you can provide would be appreciated.

                    Thanks,
                    Mike

                      Hello mcatmull,

                      Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, there is no option to add the template to the code for the indicator. You will need add the parameters one by one in the code.
