    Global Drawing Object File

why would NT be overwriting the existing global drawing objects file for a specific instrument, TF upon opening of the workspace? It does not overwrite for other instruments.

    Hello fcva7,

Thank you for your forum post.

I am not able to re-produce the situation on my end while creating a simple global drawing object for TF 09-14, saving my workspace and then closing and restoring the workspace, it looks like the template file for TF 09-14 global drawing object remains intact and in the same file system location.

Are you able to reproduce this situation on a new workspace and/or with a different instrument?

In order to assist you further, please let me know the following:
    • What version of NinjaTrader are you using? You can check under Help -> About (Example: 7.0.1000.X)
    • Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

I look forward to assisting you further.

version 7.0 1000.16, it happens overnight on the TF only, CL and GC are ok.

The TF 09-14.xml file in the GlobalChartObject folder is overwritten, without saving the worksheet. No error messages in the log.

I have been able to get around it by copying the GlobalChartObject file elsewhere after I have put in my lines and saving the workspace, then pasting it back when the file becomes overwritten.

        Hello fcva7,

Thank you for the follow up.

Since you are on an older version, please upgrade to the latest release, reset your instruments and check to see if you can reproduce the situation:

Please upgrade with the steps provided below. With this procedure you will not lose any Workspaces, Charts, etc. You will need to copy your license key from Control Center > Help > License Key...
        • Close all running applications.
        • Make sure NinjaTrader is closed from the Windows Task Manager:
          • Press CTRL + ALT + DEL on your keyboard > Start Task Manager...
          • Processes tab
          • Locate and highlight "NinjaTrader.exe" > Click "End Process"
          • If NinjaTrader is not located on the Processes tab, skip this step.
        • Then from the Start menu select --> Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs or Programs and Features
        • From Add and Remove Programs select NinjaTrader 7 and click Remove.

Once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.25 from the link below:

Next, start NinjaTrader and reset your instruments:

When you perform an instrument reset, the following actions will occur:
        • User added instruments will not be affected.
        • Any changes you have made to the original instrument settings will be reset
        • Any changed symbol mappings will be reset including changes made for use with the Automated Trading Interface.

        • Disconnect from any data providers.
        • Control Center > Tools > Options...
        • Data tab > Reset Instruments
        • Restart NinjaTrader and re-test

it is still overwriting the file (with no global drawing objects) intermittently on opening the workspace even after updating NT version
