NinjaTrader application has stopped working error

All of a sudden I am getting the "NinjaTrader application has stopped working" error when I try to start NT. Had been working fine and used every day before the issue started.

I have rebooted the computer but still get the error

I use the free EOD version.

The last few lines in the trace file are:

2014-08-19 07:37:34:041 Registering chart styles...
2014-08-19 07:37:34:241 Registering bars types...
2014-08-19 07:37:34:251 Hiding splash...
2014-08-19 07:37:34:251 Restoring workspace 'test workspace'...

What do I need to do so that I do not lose settings etc?

Thank you for your post.

Based on this information it sounds like the error is related in some way to settings within the 'Test Workspace' workspace. Please remove the 'Test Workspace' file from the Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > Workspaces folder and try to restart NinjaTrader. Does the same error appear after making this change?

Update for the forum.

I was able to get up and running with additional help from Kyle who was very responsive to my emails.

Something that others may benefit from knowing:

Ultimately I deduced the root cause behind the issue originally was a change I made to one my own custom indicators. The code compiled successfully but when I applied the new version of the indicator it caused NT to crash.

Rather than failing "gracefully" NT crashed and after that event I could not start NT again (the original issue I reported).

Good learning experience. Would be great if NT's error handling was better but at least Kyle was able to get me back up and running.
