NT 7 with proxy

    NT 7 with proxy

    Hello,

    I am running NT 7 behind a proxy. I followed this thread and made it with the license verification.

    (HTTP proxy support needed 06-25-2010, 09:14 AM)

    But when trying to connect I get the message: "Login failed: Network connection to the Instrument Metadata System is unavailable"
    There is no problem when connecting directly i.e. w/o proxy.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Can you make sure that the following addresses and ports are granted to bypass the proxy and connect to the internet.

    Ports - 80 & 443


    IP - 72.232.148.211

      Thanks NinjaTrader_Vince,

      I tried adding them to IE, not sure though how it should work with ports. Please have a look at attached pic. It has now again the issue with license verification too.

            NinjaTrader Continuum. As I said it works fine when I have direct connection to Internet.

              Is there anything I can do to make it work when I use proxy?

                Hi Zaza1,

                The exceptions you already added to your proxy will work for the NinjaTrader licensing and historical data servers. You will need to add exceptions for Continuum's servers, below is the most current list we have available.

                67.152.7.192
                208.48.16.0
                64.208.51.192
                66.77.164.128
                216.219.76.64
                202.147.38.224
                203.192.141.160

                Port: 2823

                Please let us know if that provides you connection threw your proxy.

                  Still no luck. Verification works but still no connection I hope I have done it correctly:

                  "*.ninjatrader.com;*.exfnow.com;67.152.7.192;208.4 8.16.0;64.208.51.192;66.77.164.128;216.219.76.64;2 02.147.38.224;203.192.141.160"

                  I am not sure how to consider ports...

                    Thank you for the follow up.


                    What type of router are you attempting to configure? Perhaps there is documentation online or from the manufacturer directly on how to configure the ports/ip addresses to unblock.

                      When performing exceptions to your proxy within IE ports are not required.

                      The exceptions you provided should be correct. Also are you sure the ports on the router or proxy side are opened/allowed?

                        Unfortunately the port is closed. Is this port specifically for NinjaTrader Continuum? Is there anyway around it or is there any other broker I could connect to w/o having this port open? I am very new to NT but I do not face these kind of problems when I use other trading platforms.

                          Hello zaza1,


                          Thank you for the follow up.


                          If this router is located on a work network then you would need to have your IT manager open this port to allow a connection to Continuum.


                          With that being said, you can use a VPS (Virtual Private Server) to co-locate your NinjaTrader installation to allow a connection through this port.


                          CQG and Continuum connections will be using port 2823 to connect, you may be able to establish connections to other brokerages in NinjaTrader without having to have a port opened on the router.

                          Unfortunately IP addresses and ports required to connect can change and we will not know all of IP address and ports as we do not define these.
