    Renko chart

Is it possible to create a Renko chart for a market in NT.

I can see there is a Renko option under period type but I have not been able to get a Renko chart to display even when I use that option.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us.

The steps which you are taking would be all that should be required to access a renko chart.

Which version of NinjaTrader are you using? (Help > About)
Which data source are you connected to?

          Hello,

With the Kinetick EOD connection you can only bring up Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly charts.

Renko bars are build from Tick bars which is not supported with this connection.

To bring up a Renko chart you would need to have a provider that supports Tick data. See here for an overview of supported providers and the data they provide:

Check under the section 'Understanding the data provided by your connectivity provider'

Is there any way of testing the renko charts in NT if one doesn't have a tick data provider ?

Renko bars are built from Tick data. If there is no Tick data, you cannot build anything from data that does not exist, so the answer is an unequivocal, "no".

I got an IQFeed trial which I belived is a tick supplier and I'm connected to them.

However when displayiing chart type I can't see renko. Do I need to go through any procedure before making renko available ?

                  Hello Automeq,

Thank you for the follow up.

You will need to select Renko from the Period type drop down menu:
