Importing stock symbol using google datafeed does not work

Hello

I have successfully established a connection to google datafeed.
Now, I want to import some bluechip stock symbols, e.g. "BMW" which ist traded on XETRA(ETR).
Unofrtunately I get this error when trying to open a chart (daily):
"Error on loading chart data for "BMW Default": Invalid Symbol BMW Trading on XETRA."

When I go to the instrument manager to check/edit the symbol I see in the URL not a google URL but a yahoo finance which is very strange. Furthermore I uncheck under "Exchanges" "Default", click OK but when I edit the symbol again the exchange "Default" is checked again.

So, how can I import succesfully stock symbols using google finance as datafeed.

Thank you for your forum post and welcome to the NinjaTrader Support Forums!


Investigating further for BMW Stock data on the Google connection, it looks like only US Stocks are supported with Google's connection.

Other stocks may have different symbol map formats that may work for the Google connection.


With that being said, you will be able to access this data on the Yahoo connection.

I am already using yahoo finance as datasource on NinjaTrader since a long time.
It is very important for me to have google finance as a second datasource for my analysis. Why?
The data quality is different. BMW is a good example.
Check the historical prices for BMW on:

As you can see google provides better quality because their data provider is Deutsche Börse!
Looking at data from yahoo there is even one day missing (Sep 5)! Unbelievable!
There are more examples from european stocks!

Because I love NinjaTrader I am extremely disappointed that there is no NinjaTrader solution , especially if I compare the APIs which is from data point of view the same:

Maybe there are other NinjaTrader users who have made these experiences and know a workaround or NinjaTrader could fix it ? Would be very helpful.

Thank you for the follow up and for providing this additional information regarding Google and Yahoo data feeds and the discrepancies.

I will review this situation with our development team to see if anything can be looked into on the APIs that NinjaTrader is using for Google and Yahoo.
