Instrument Manager vs NinjaTrader Brokerage Supported Instruments

The NinjaTrader Brokerage contract details web page lists the Micro Canadian Dollar as product code MCD, but the platform Instrument Manager lists it as M6J. There are other instruments with a similar discrepancy (e.g. Micro Swiss Franc, MSF vs M6S). MCD and the other apparently anomalous product codes are not in the platform Instrument Manager.

    Which of these is correct?

    Thanks.

    Hello jeronymite,

    Thank you for your note.

The MCD is the E-micro CAD/USD future.

This is different than the E-micro USD/CAD.

Listed just below the MCD on the website, is M6C which is the E-micro USD/CAD that is in NinjaTrader.

The MCD future is not mapped in NinjaTrader and would have to be added manually.

      Understood

      Thanks, Chelsea. I understand now.

The web page I refer to is the Margins information for NTB:

NinjaTrader is a leading futures broker & trading platform provider with deep discount commissions as low as $.09 per Micro contract. Start your FREE demo powered by live data.

Unfortunately, I do not see M6C there.

May I recommend three things, please?
      1. All web documentation be consistent in the set of instruments listed.
      2. All instruments have consistent and very precise descriptions so there is no possibility of misinterpretation.
      3. All instruments listed be automatically added to the instrument list in NT.

      Many thanks!

        Consistency!

One other thing to note is that different sources of information on the NT site have different data and different update timestamps.

I strongly recommend a review of all available data sources (web pages and PDF) to ensure all information is:
        1. Consistent across all sources.
        2. Up-to-date and accurate.
        3. Maintained with single, consistent, accurate and up-to-date data with the same timestamp on all sources through a very strong Change Management process.

        Many thanks!

          Review

          Thanks, Chelsea.

I do urge the complete review of all sources of information as I recommended previously. As I look through the current web pages and compare data to the currently published PDF file of all contracts, for example, I can see several discrepancies which should not be there if rigorous Change Management were applied to all published data.

Thanks again for your very kind assistance!

            Hello jeronymite,

The M6C instrument has little to no volume. Below is a publicly available link to the cmegroup website on M6C.
            http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/fx/e...an-dollar.html

As the instrument is not traded, it is not listed on the margins page you have linked to. It is also not listed in the supported products pdf. Below is a publicly available link to the supported products pdf.
            http://www.ninjatraderbrokerage.com/...oduct_Info.pdf

I will have our IT Manager review these pages and ensure there are no discrepancies on this page.

The MCD future does have volume to trade and is listed on the margins page and the supported products pdf. Below is a publicly available link to the cmegroup website on the MCD.

NinjaTrader comes pre-loaded with the most commonly traded instruments however, you may find the need to add an additional instrument. Please follow the instructions below to add an instrument in the Instrument Manager.
            • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Instrument Manager
            • Press the "New" button
            • *Enter in instrument specific information and select the appropriate exchange (add Default exchange for equities in addition to the actual exchange)
            • Fill in any relevant information under the "Misc" tab such as symbol mapping for your target connectivity provider
            • Press the "OK" button

Thank you for your suggestions to pre-map all instruments, I will forward this as a feature request to development. It will then be up to development to decide to implement this.
